Azerbaijani players presented an outstanding level of performance from the beginning to the end of a quarter-final clash.
Home player Polina Rahimova confirmed her tendency to become the best scorer and best spiker of the tournament. With 23 points she once again carried her teammates to the win.
On the other side, Lonneke Slöetjes scored 17.
Serbia was a clear favorite in the last quarter-final as a Pool B leader versus Belgium and it had the lead in sets twice, but their rival did not let trailing to make influence on their mind.
Belgians kept up their creative and floating display – 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 25-14, 21-25, 19-17).
So, the day ended as it started – with a tiebreak. In this incredible drama, the result was leveled at 13 each. Belgium did not convert four match balls, but Serbia took a golden opportunity by scoring its second for 19-17.
Jelena Nikolić had 17 for Serbia and Freya Aelbrecht 14 points in Belgium.
