The team coached by Daniel Gavan is in a very interesting, yet tough and challenging Pool D with Zenit KAZAN from Russia, Halkbank ANKARA and Montenegro’s champions Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA.

Hypo Tirol mentor Daniel Gavan adds: “We are really looking forward to the start of the Champions League. Me personally, I am excited to participate in this competition in my new position as the team’s head coach. Every match in the Champions League is a tough one and with Zenit KAZAN and Halkbank ANKARA we have two particularly strong teams to play against. Of course we have dreams and wishes, but our first goal has to be to prepare ourselves as good as we can and to play our best as a team when the games start. We were able to keep almost the same team as last season, which can be our advantage in terms of team chemistry and knowing each other on the court.

Team captain Gregor Ropret: “I had a great summer with the Slovenian national team, climaxing with winning the silver medal at the European Championship just last weekend. Now I am glad to be back in Innsbruck and to prepare together with the team for the Champions League. We obviously have a very tough pool but we will work hard to raise our game and cope with the challenges ahead. We will look at one game at a time and always push ourselves to play the best we can. When you play games like these, sometimes you reach a point where you simply show your best game – that’s what we are working for.”
