Hisamitsu easily prevailed over Queenseis Toyota Auto Body 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-20) with 17 points from Miyu Nagaoka and 14 from Yuki Ishii. On the other side, Azerbaijani Polina Rahimova had 20 but without enough support from her teammates.
Second-placed Toray Arrows downed title holders NEC Red Rockets in a derby of the first round in 2016, 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 25-15). Saori Sakoda and Arisa Takada scored 18 each in the winning team. Sarina Koga had 18 and Risa Shiragaki 16 for Red Rockets who suffered fifth defeat in a row.
Hitachi Rivale Ibaraki (Nanami Inoue 13 pts.) remained third-placed after straight-set win over Ageo Medics while Denso Airybees defeated Okayama Seagulls 3-0 with 22 points from Mizuho Ishida.
