After losing last week in straight sets to Vakifbank ISTANBUL, Volero needs to show the right approach and not to be afraid of any opponents in what is anyway a very demanding campaign. The Swiss side needs to play smart and find the right chemistry also with Cuban spiker Nancy Carrillo who was out of the Volleyball arena for the past three years.

Having just edged Hôtel Cristal VFM in straight sets in the national league, Volero got back on track after the disappointing performance displayed in Istanbul. Nancy Carrillo scored 21 points all alone and showed she is gradually finding back her rhythm. “I am very satisfied with the way the team was prepared for our game on Sunday” says head coach Dragutin Baltic. “We started out very motivated and longing for the victory. We could keep control of the operations even in some difficult circumstances”.

After surprisingly losing their home debut to Uralochka-NTMK EKATERINBURG, RC CANNES will certainly try to get back on track and exploit any weakness showed by Volero. “The results of the many friendly matches we played with RC CANNES make us optimistic” says Volero president Stav Jacobi. “If we can show a strong performance they will be within our reach”. In fact the young players of Volero played on equal terms with RC CANNES this past September by the time the group was not complete and after changing head coach only a few days before.

Volero will be crossing their ways with Serbian Brankica Mihajlovic who last year played in Zurich before moving to Korea and has scored 22 points in the match with Uralochka. The setter of RC CANNES, Ana Antonijevic, is also another former player of Volero. “We are very much looking forward to this match especially since we will have the chance to welcome back these two players. Brankica especially embodies our concept and we are very proud of the way she has developed in her career” concludes Jacobi.
