One of the most successful Polish coached of a younger generation, Andrzej Kowal, will lead the Polish top division newcomers MKS Ślepsk Suwałki next season, replacing Mateusz Mielnik.
A three-time Polish champion with Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, whom he coached for 14 straight years, firstly as an assistant coach and then as a head coach, from 2004 to 2018, was sacked by the same club in October last year. After that, Kowal was hired by the Romanian side ACS Volei Municipal Zalău and lost the national title in the photo-finish to CS Arcada Galați.
The new club of a 48-year-old expert won the Polish Division 2 (1. Liga Mężczyzn) by beating Stal Nysa in the playoff finals (series 3-0) and was promoted to the Plus Liga.
