Quite a historical decision was made by the Polish professional league and Polish federation organization, which is a result of nearly one-year negotiations. The country’s topflight PlusLiga, one of the top 5 national competitions in the world, accepted the participation of a foreign club next season – Ukrainian Barkom, the three-time champions of the country and last season’s vice-champions.

Barkom will have the right to fight for the medals of the Polish Championship, and in the event of taking the last place at the end of the regular season, they will be relegated. However, the club won’t be able to take part in European cups in accordance with the placement in PlusLiga. Barkom will play under the same rules as Polish teams, which means that at least three domestic players, in this case – Ukrainians, must be on the court at the same time. Barkom, who were based in Lviv in their home country, will now play their matches as hosts in Kraków because of the war.
