In the 2022-23 season, the Chinese superstar Zhu Ting will be part of the roster of Scandicci. The biography of a 27-year-old outside hitter with exceptional elevation and a great variety of strokes from the Henan Province is jam-packed with the team and individual awards. Nicknamed ‘Zhuper’, she’s the first player in the history of international volleyball to win two consecutive MVP awards in the World Cup (2015 and 2019). The protagonist of a successful career, Zhu, had the highlight of her career in the 2016 Rio Olympics after whose conclusion she put the gold medal around her neck with the China National Team and was recognized as the MVP of the event.

She spent the last three seasons defending the colors of Tianjin to which she came from Turkey’s VakıfBank in order to prepare better for the Tokyo Olympics, which were then postponed for one year so her stay in her homeland was prolonged even though she had an agreement to return to the ranks of the Istanbul side. Zhu is currently conducting a rehabilitation process following the surgery on her right wrist due to which she’ll miss the entire international season, most likely, including the World Championship.
