Yuriy Marichev will become the new head coach of Yaroslavich Yaroslavl who finished 2017/18 Superliga regular season second-to-last. He started last season as the head coach of the Dinamo Moscow but was sacked in October. Almost immediately, Marichev took over the women’s club Proton Saratovskaya Oblast with whom he took 6th place in the Superliga. Despite establishing himself as the men’s club coach, Marichev achieved the most success in the women’s volleyball, leading Russia national team to win two titles in the CEV European Championship. He will replace Viktor Sidelnikov at the bench of Yaroslavich.

Fakel Novy Urengoy signed a contract with an 18-year-old middle blocker Vitaliy Dikarev. He spent the last season in Yugra-Samotlor Nizhnevartovsk, playing for both youth team (won silver medal in the Youth league) and the main squad. Dikarev made his debut in Superliga in 2017/18, having played 3 matches. In addition, he competed for Russia youth national team and was recognized Best Middle Blocker in the 2017 CEV U19 European Championship. In Fakel, Dikarev will perform for the youth and first team.

A 22-year-old opposite Sergey Piraynen joined Zenit Sankt Peterburg. He started last season in Division 2 side Prikamye Perm but in December he moved to Yugra-Samotlor Nizhnevartovsk to become the team’s top scorer in Superliga with 347 points. Piraynen now returned to the city in which he was born. He was the 2015 FIVB U21 World Championship winner with Russia national team.

Gazprom-Yugra Surgut agreed to terms with 3 newcomers. The middle blocker Artem Dovgan was brought in from Division 2 side Grozniy and will compete for a place in the lineup with natives Nikolay Beskrovniy and Maksim Troynin since Serbian Petar Krsmanović is projected to be the first middle blocker. Besides Dovgan, Surgut hired outside hitter Leonid Shchadilov (Yaroslavich Yaroslavl) and setter Roman Egorov (Dinamo Chelyabinsk, Division 2).

A 35-year-old outside hitter Aleksandr Mochalov will continue his career in Ural Ufa. He returned to his native club after 8 years as he was a member of Ural, including youth categories, from 1999 to 2010. Mochalov was a part of Zenit Kazan squad that took Superliga title in the 2013/14. Ural also hired Zenit Sankt-Peterburg backup middle blocker Denis Chereyskiy. A 23-year-old player took part in 16 matches in Superliga last season
