After a great start in the competition, when they beat Algeria and Nigeria in straight sets, the team captained by Farida El Askalany fell against the more experienced Turkey. With Turkey having piled up 22 errors at the end of the match, in fact Egypt achieved only 15 points by direct hits. Aya Elshamy was the best scorer, having 5 attack points with a 25% of positive hits. Among the Turkey squad, Ece Hocaglu scored 16 points as the best of her team, but the nomination for good blocking goes to Asli Kalac (4 blocks out of 5 attempts).
Egypt will have their resting day tomorrow: the 6 points they have now in the standings of Pool D will remain to define their final position in this first phase and paired them for the next Round of 16. Turkey will face Algeria.
