The tournament is named after the late Paidar Demir, aka Pako8 as he did wear that number since the start of his Volleyball career at Galatasaray up to his retirement by the time he was already 42. After retiring from competitive sport, Demir could continue his career in Volleyball by working as team manager for his former club as well as for Turkey’s national teams. Demir prematurely passed away in a car accident back in 2006 and since then the Paidar Demir Tournament has been held annually.

Galatasaray will debut on Friday playing Tomis CONSTANTA before taking on Olympiacos and ISTANBUL BSB on Saturday and Sunday.
