Halkbank made their way toward the top spot at the end of the regular season in the 2022-23 Turkish Men’s Volleyball Championship easier with today’s win over Arkas Spor in a hit.
Halkbank took down Arkas in the hit of Round 18 of the 2022-23 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi Metin Görgün Sezonu in straight sets but each one was exhausting. Neither of the three sets lasted less than half an hour. With the triumph on the road in İzmir, Halkbank consolidated themselves at the top of the standings, practically eliminating today’s rivals, third-placed, from the race for the top spot in the regular season. This race now turned into a race for two as only Ziraat Bankkart have the chance to eventually grab the number one spot besides Halkbank in the remaining eight rounds of the regular season.
The Dutchman Nimir Abdel Aziz topped the winning side, which recorded its 13th success in all competitions, with 29 points (four aces) today. Canadian Nicholas Hoag was Arkas’ best scorer with 12 points, while Ulaş Kıyak made four blocks.
