No.5 İstanbul BBSK ended the road of Ziraat Bankası to the title in the Efeler Ligi as they beat the fourth-seed side away in a decisive playoff quarterfinals game, Game 3, by a 3-2 (25-23, 23-25, 17-25, 25-22, 15-13).

Serhat Coşkun led İstanbul BBSK to the semifinals with 17 points (3 aces), while İbrahim Emet added 4 kill blocks. The Italian Oleg Antonov scored 26 points for Ziraat. Koray Şahin recorded 7 kill blocks. Despite the fact he was a key figure for Ziraat in Game 2, the Pole Bartosz Kurek played only the first two sets, and partially the third.

Unlike Ziraat, No.2 Arkas Spor did not allow the seventh-seed Maliye Piayngo to upset them. The team from İzmir prevailed by a 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 25-18) to make a comeback in series from 0-1 to 2-1 and progress to the semifinals. The Brazilian João Paulo Bravo topped Arkas with 15 points (3 aces) which was as much as Halil Ibrahim Yücel scored for the losing side. Arkas could not count on their best scorer, the Cuban Michael Sánchez Bozhulev, throughout entire series.

If ZIRAAT did not have Kurek they would have won. Kurek is like a cancer, not a single team can win with him. Poland won the WCH when they got ride of him, they brought him back and look what happened.
