“Why We Gain Weight

Increased cellular inflammation can turn your fat cells into a “fat trap” especially if you are
genetically predisposed. Once this happens, the dietary calories get trapped in your fat cells and
can’t be released to make the energy you need to survive and move around. As a result you are
constantly hungry. Once you begin to reverse cellular inflammation, the “fat trap” is relaxed and
you stop the hunger. If you are never hungry, then cutting back on calories is easy.“

Dr. Barry Sears explains simply his patented heath recipe:

“ The Zone: The Solution

The Zone Diet is clinically proven to reverse cellular inflammation by maintaining the
inflammatory hormones generated by the food we eat within a Zone that is not high, but not too
low.

The dietary program is conceptually simple. Simply divide your plate at every meal into three equal
sections.

On one-third of the plate put some low-fat protein that is no bigger or thicker than the palm of
your hand. Then fill the other two-thirds of the plate with colour carbohydrates (vegetables and
fruits). Finally add a dash (that’s a small amount) of fat that is low in omega-6 and saturated fats
such as olive oil.
Your success in constructing a Zone meal is indicated by lack of hunger for the next four to six
hours.

Simple in concept, often difficult in execution because you have avoid many of foods that people
love to eat (bread, pizza, pasta, potatoes, and rice). In addition, you have to maintain the appropriate
balance of protein, carbohydrate and fat at every meal to maintain the hormonal balance to reduce
cellular inflammation.“

For those of you who are more interested there are many other things concerning the Zone
and it’s proper and most efficient use. For example there are different amount of fruit and
vegetables recommended, depending of the level of carbohydrates they content. The same is valid
for protein and diary.

And last but not least – water! As we have all heard not once “water is life”, therefore it’s
recommended the beverage of at least eight glasses of water every day. The amount …………..

Another interesting thing is that “The Zone” can be combined and in fact it’s proven to be
working better, with some supplements as Omega-3 fatty acids, Polyphenols, green vegetables and
grasses extract. It’s convenient to know for those who are always on the run, that pure protein
powder can be always an excellent substitute of lean meat.
