Former Spanish women’s national team coach, Gido Vermeulen has been named as the new coach of the women's volleyball team of his native the Netherlands. The 47-year-old replaces Avital Selinger who had been in the role since 2004, leasing the Orange to a 2007 World Grand Prix title.

Vermeulen has a six-year agreement with evaluations every two years and an escape clause.

“It is nice to coach in your own country,” the new coach commented. The team has been good in recent years and is good in training. Next month, I’m going to talk to as many people as possible and then make decisions.  The first goal is of course the Olympic qualifying tournament in May, but we are also looking further ahead.”
