Mark Lebedew has been officially appointed as the new coach of Polish team PSG Stal Nysa. The Australian expert had signed a two-year deal with Lycurgus Groningen last year, but the club’s sudden financial collapse led to the termination of all contracts.

Speaking at his unveiling in Nysa, Lebedew shared his plans for the upcoming season, noting the team is close to finalizing its roster. “We still need two more players, but things are moving fast. We’ll announce the full squad soon,” he said. While the club now competes in Poland’s second tier, Lebedew emphasized that the level of play remains high and sees real potential for promotion.
His decision to join Stal Nysa wasn’t made lightly. “I spoke with several people before signing. The club is well-run and has a good reputation,” he explained. The goal is clear: build a strong, athletic team capable of earning a spot back in the PlusLiga.
Club president Robert Prygiel expressed confidence in the new partnership, highlighting the club’s long-term vision and commitment to both players and coaches. Reflecting on his departure from Groningen, Lebedew admitted it was difficult. “My family loved living there. We believed in the project, and it’s unfortunate it had to end prematurely,” he said.
