Calcit Kamnik and Vasas Óbuda Budapest completed the line-up of the 2nd Round of qualifications for the 2023 CEV Women’s Volleyball Champions League.
Calcit Kamnik of Slovenia qualified for the 2nd round of qualifications for the CEV Champions League Volley 2023 | Women. In the return match, they first took three sets against Croatia’s Mladost Zagreb (25-23, 25-19, and 25-22), and then won the Golden Set, 15-10. Gregor Rozman’s wards showed a different performance than a week ago in the first leg, when they were completely helpless and lost 0-3. This time, they were the ones who dictated the rhythm.
Their main weapon was the defense, led by the block (15 stuffs), in which Sara Hutinski excelled the most with 5. In attack, Maša Pucelj was the most effective with 17 points. In the 2nd round of qualifications, Calcit will face Serbia’s Crvena Zvezda Beograd, who eliminated Finland’s Pölkky Kuusamo yesterday (3-0 and 3-0).
As the host, led by Azerbaijani Ayshan Abdulazimova (12 points; 6 blocks), Hungary’s Vasas Óbuda Budapest beat Belgian VDK Gent Dames 3-0 in the second leg, thus advancing on the account of a double straight-set win. The Hungarian champions will face the Spanish titleholders, Tenerife La Laguna (who eliminated Bosnia’s Bimal-Jedinstvo Brčko), in the next round.
