In a stunning performance, Mladost Zagreb defeated German powerhouse Friedrichshafen 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-20) in the first leg of the CEV Cup round of 32 at the “Bojan Stranić” Volleyball Hall in Zagreb. Greek standout Spyridon Chandrinos led Mladost with 20 points, while Đorđe Jovović and Clemens Ecker contributed 13 and 10 points respectively.
For Friedrichshafen, currently fourth in the German Bundesliga, Croatian player Ivan Zeljković scored 16 points, with Michal Superlak and Jose Masso Alvarez adding 13 each. Mladost’s setter, Mario Močić, earned player of the match honors and expressed confidence ahead of the return leg: “They were favorites, but we didn’t allow it. We played excellently at home and believe in advancing.”
