Jastrzębski Węgiel has made an announcement that the contract of Benjamin Toniutti has been extended for the 2023/2024 season.
Since the 2021/2022 season, Toniutti has been a member of Jastrzębski Węgiel, contributing significantly to the team’s achievements. His contributions led the team to become the runners-up of the Polish league and win the Polish Super Cup twice in 2021 and 2022. In addition to being the team captain, Toniutti demonstrates his leadership qualities both on and off the court.
Toniutti’s success extends beyond his club’s performance, as he has represented France multiple times, serving as the captain of the national team. He is a highly accomplished player, having won several major tournaments, including the European Championship in 2015 and the World League twice, in 2015 and 2017. He also earned a gold medal at the Olympic Games held in Tokyo in 2020 and won gold and bronze medals at the League of Nations in 2022 and 2021, respectively.
In addition to his team accomplishments, Toniutti’s individual achievements are noteworthy. He has received numerous awards, including the Best Setter of the Polish Cup in 2016 and 2019, the Best Setter in the final for the Polish Championship in 2016, and the Best Setter of the World League 2015, 2017 and Volleyball Nations League 2018. He was also named the Best Setter of the Qualifying Tournament for the Olympic Games in 2016, the Best Setter of the European Championship in 2019, and the Setter of the Decade according to CEV in 2020.
