Macris, the silver medal-winning setter from the Tokyo Olympics and the World Championship 2022, withdrew from Brazilian volleyball team due to physical problems. Her departure comes just before the Japan Pre-Olympics, set for September 16-24, which will determine a spot for the Paris Games. Naiane from Praia Clube will fill the vacancy.

The team is currently training in Saquarema for the upcoming Pre-Olympics. Macris (Silva Carneiro Macris Fernanda) had been absent from the group following a break last week and officially requested to leave on Thursday. Known as a key player and among the world’s most talented setters, Macris had been dealing with back pain since the Nations League and saw limited play in the recent South American Championship in Recife.

In light of Macris’s exit, coach José Roberto Guimarães has called up Naiane (Rios Naiane De Almeida), who had limited court time in two games during the early part of the League of Nations. The team will continue to prepare for the Pre-Olympics with Naiane and Roberta.
