The Brazilian men’s national volleyball team, under the guidance of Coach Renan Dal Zotto, has unveiled its roster of 14 players set to compete in the upcoming Rio Pre-Olympic tournament. Notably, opposite hitter Felipe Roque has requested to be excused from the team due to personal reasons, and he will not be part of the squad for the competition, scheduled to be held at Maracanãzinho from September 30th to October 8th.
The Brazilian lineup for the Pre-Olympic tournament includes:
- Setters: Bruninho and Fernando Cachopa
- Opposites: Alan and Darlan
- Outside Hitters: Adriano, Honorato, Lucarelli, and Lukas Bergmann
- Middle Blockers: Flavio, Judson, Lucão, and Otávio
- Liberos: Maique and Thales
Coach Renan Dal Zotto expressed, “We had a good training period in Saquarema, and the team is focused on this final stretch of preparation for the Pre-Olympic. Our main goal for the year is to secure a spot in Paris 2024. We were counting on all three of our opposite hitters, but unfortunately, Felipe Roque had a personal issue and won’t be with us in the competition. We wish him all the best, and we remain determined to give our best at the Maracanãzinho.”
The Brazilian national team will commence their journey in the competition with a match against Qatar on September 30th. Subsequently, they will face formidable opponents, including the Czech Republic, Germany, Ukraine, Cuba, Iran, and Italy, as they strive to clinch their ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
