TUR W: Vakifbank continue their amazing winning streak in Turkey

Giovanni Guidetti’s team is keeping an amazing winning run in the Turkish elite women’s volleyball championship.


They improved the streak to 13-0 after beating Genclik in straight sets 25-13, 25-18, 25-16.

Michelle Bartsch-Hackley (18 points) and Isabelle Haak (15) were the top scorers in Vakifbank, while Elif Boran had 11 points on the other side.

Eczacibasi have also scored a 3-0 win, beating Beylikduzu away 25-15, 25-16, 25-10. Saliha Sahin led Eczacibasi to the win with 16 points, while Melis Durul contributed with 13. Some of the players such as Tijana Boskovic didn’t enter the game since the coach want them to take a rest.

Another interesting fact is that Beylikduzu played with only 9 players in the roster for this game.

Galatasaray had a difficult game but they managed to win after playing five sets against Ankara 26-28, 25-16, 24-26, 25-18, 15-12. Alesya Ryhkliuk had an amazing game, scoring 32 points.

Ilbank – Ankara 1-3 (21-25, 25-19, 19-25, 17-25)

THY – Aydin 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 25-19, 28-26)

Vakifbank – Genclik 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-16)

Beylikduzu – Eczacibasi 0-3 (15-25, 16-25, 10-25)

Galatasaray – Ankara 3-2 (26-28, 25-16, 24-26, 25-18, 15-12)

ITA M: Piacenza stun Milano on road

So this was a dominant and impressive road win for Piacenza. Baranowicz is getting a better connection to the outside and smartly is forcing more middle action.
I have really been impressed with the growth of Scanferia. He and Clevernot are passing much better. With the addition of Mousavi and Russell and Grozer playing at such a high level, Gas Sales is going to make a serious move in the 2nd half of the season.
As far as the league, Trentino has been a major dissapointment, Modena under Christenson leadership has been terrific, Monza remains dangerous, and overall the league is very competitive and fun.
Lube and Perugia may not be there at the end.
The league needs to find a way to increase its exposure worldwide, imo Reply
