Months after several complaints of irregularities in the sponsorship between the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) and the “Bank of Brazil” which led to the temporary suspension and changes to the agreement, it seems that another scandal is about to be revealed.

According to melhordovolei.com.br, the journalist from “ESPN”, Lucio de Castro, presented a new case of a possible misuse of public funds by this entity during the period when it’s President was Ary Graça, currently commanding the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

As the journalist shows, this time an agreement between the CBV and the Ministry of Sports for the completion of the Brazilian Volleyball State Championship for clubs in 2013 contained irregularities. For the production and organization of stages, for example, all participants in the bidding companies and among business people were somehow related to the CBV. Among them is a niece of Ary Graça.

This, however, is prohibited by law, as it can be used as a trick for overpaying prices. What’s more, three of the companies mentioned have as an accountant Carlos Manuel Duarte Abreu, a professional whose name was also involved in the scandal of the CBV with the “Bank of Brazil”.

According to the journalist, the Comptroller General shall submit a report soon unraveling the financial relations between the CBV and the Ministry of Sports.

Recall the first scandal of Brazilian Volleyball Confederation.

It is clear that Mr Graça has led the misuse of public funds with members of his family involved. Hopefully this history won’t end like many we see in Brazil and Mr Graça will be held accountable for the wrongdoings while he was leading CBV.
