The Netherlands defeated Italy in straight sets (25-17, 25-20, 25-13) and qualified for the seventh time in the semifinal of the European Championship. Italy were paying a high price for the absence of their injured main setter Ofelia Malinov

After this victory, the Netherlands will have the chance to fight for the final and eventually repeat the result from 2015 when they won the silver medal.

Today, the opposite Lonneke Slöetjes was the leader of the team with 20 points while Anne Buijs scored 17 points. On the other side, Paola Egonu was lonely with 15 points.

Recall that Italy as the leader of Pool B have directly qualified to quarterfinals while the Netherlands defeated Croatia in 1/8 finals and continued with the competition.
