Only a few days after being eliminated from the Final Six of the 2018 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League, without even entering the semifinal, Poland national team head coach Vitaly Heynen allegedly made several cuts in the roster for the 2018 FIVB World Championship.

Poland head coach Heynen decided to cross out four players from the roster that competed in the Nations League Final Six in Lille (Bartłomiej Lemański, Maciej Muzaj, Bartosz Bednorz and Michał Żurek) and one player that would certainly be on the squad if he did not undergo appendectomy – Mateusz Mika, WP SportoweFakty revealed. Heynen summoned these four players for the World Championship instead: Dawid Konarski, Piotr Nowakowski, Michał Kubiak and Tomasz Fornal.

Unofficial Poland’s preliminary roster for the 2018 WCH:

Setters: Grzegorz Łomacz (PGE Skra Bełchatów), Fabian Drzyzga (Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, RUS).

Opposites: Dawid Konarski (Jastrzębski Węgiel), Bartosz Kurek (Stocznia Szczecin), Damian Schulz (Asseco Resovia Rzeszów).
