Although 7 teams have confirmed their participation in the African Men’s Olympic Qualifications in Cairo (Algeria, Botswana, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Tunisia, and Niger), only 5 of them are actually registered for the tournament. Out of these 5 teams, one didn’t show up – Ghana. Thus, they lost the match against the continental champions Tunisia by a forfeit.
In the other match of an opening day, the hosts beat Algeria in 4 sets.
