In the first match of the Superliga Masculina regular season in 2020, Cruzeiro prevailed over Minas in a derby of the Minas Gerais state (Clássico Mineiro) at home by a 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 25-20, 25-20). It was the postponed match of Round 6 due to Cruzeiro’s participation in the FIVB Club World Championship. Thus, the team coached by Argentinean Marcelo Méndez took over the leadership of the competition, having 9-1 and 27 points, which are 2 points more than the 2nd placed EMS Taubaté Funvic.
Isac Santos top-scored for Cruzeiro with 15 points, while Otávio Pinto made an 80% attack (8/10). Felipe Roque tallied 18 points for Minas who came in 7th with 4-6 and 12 points.
