This time Italy failed to win even a set and despite a good start they ran onto much more organized and accurate Brazilian team who ended the tournament in the first place without losing and having only dropped one set against Japan.
Thanks to Indre Sorokaite and Valentina Tirozzi and “The blue“ controlled the matche, but as soon as “The green and gold“ found the key for stopping the Italian duo, they have closed the first set at 25-18.
In the second set, after a brief initial phase in balance, the Brazilians ran away again and have given to Mencarelli’s girls one point less than in the first set.
Finally, in the third set, Brazil has consolidated it’s absolute domination, practically leaving almost nothing to Martina Guiggi and companions who have found themselves suffering heaviest score (25-10).
Fernanda Garay was the best scorer fro Brazil with 14 points, followed by Monique Marinho Pavao with 11.
In the losing team, Sorokaite was the best with 13 points.
Bronze medal match: Earlier, Turkey had overtaken Japan 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-22), securing third place at the tournament.
Final standings: Brazil 9, Italy 4, Turkey 3, Japan 2 points.
