Brazil is on top of Pool A, with 19 points. USA has 12 points and will have to fight for the last spot against Bulgaria and Poland who will also face each other on this weekend.

Brazilian spiker Ricardo Lucarelli believes that there will be two tough meetings in Rio.

We’ve been improving every match since the World League started. We had a good performance against Bulgaria, but we know that we need to be focused to evolve our game. The USA has an efficient serve and a good defense system,” he said.

Spiker Lucas Saatkamp has the same opinion of the American team saying, “Definitely, it will be two hard games, like the others we’ve already done. The Americans have a powerful serve and we all need to be focused on this skill all the time,” he said.

Brazilian head coach Bernardo Rezende plans to use some substitutes to preserve the physical condition of this team.

“We are guaranteed a place in the Finals, so I can make some changes in Rio,” Rezende said. “The USA has a great sports infrastructure, so they have many athletes at a top level.”
