BRA W: Osasco sign Tifanny on LGBT Liberation Day

The five-time Brazilian women’s volleyball Championship winners Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde announced another reinforcement for the 2021/22 season.

Osasco confirmed the hiring of Tifanny Abreu for the next season, doing it on the LGBT Liberation Day. This is quite a curiosity given that a 36-year-old outside hitter is the first trans athlete to play in high-level club competition in Brazil. That first happened in 2017 when she was hired by Sesi Vôlei Bauru where she played ever since.

Given her age, Tifanny’s arrival at five-time Superliga, one-time FIVB Club World Championship, and four-time South American Championship winners can be considered the highlight of her professional volleyball career.
