Brazil Volleyball Confederation recently made an announcement concerning Yoandy Leal, the Brazil national team outside hitter. Due to pain in both knees, Leal has requested a medical leave, making him unavailable for the upcoming Olympic Qualifiers set to start on the 30th in Rio de Janeiro. Given the limited time before this crucial event, a full recovery for Leal is unlikely.

Expressing his sentiment, Leal mentioned, “While I deeply wanted to compete in the Olympic Qualifiers and support Brazil in clinching a position in the paramount global sports event, my current physical condition hinders me. Such competitions demand peak performance. Even so, my teammates and our coaching staff have my unwavering support. I assure everyone that I will be back in form by the next season, aiming for further accolades for Brazil.”

In the race for two slots at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Brazil is set to begin their Olympic Qualifiers campaign against Qatar on September 30th. The team will subsequently compete against Czech Republic, Germany, Ukraine, Cuba, Iran, and Italy.
