The Russian volleyball star Natalia Goncharova has written a blog for the life.ru website in which she has described the situation in Rio Olympic village.

Hello! We have continued preparing for the start of the tournament. We are practicing late, from 20:00 to 22:00, because the matches are scheduled in the similar time. That’s why we take a coffee before the practice – it became standard procedure. Also, we found “McDonalds” in the Olympic village. For the athletes, everything is free. Coffee is very tasteful here. Although we are in the different time zone, we sleep well. Ok, sometimes WADA officials come to wake us up at 6am, but it’s fine. In the morning we are doing some fitness exercises.  After fitness, we are resting. I offered my teammates to play beach volleyball, but they didn’t want to do it. Of course, I’m kidding. I didn’t want to go there as well. We came to the souvenir shop. Prices are high – about 20 euros for a stuffed animal. But, how to return from the Olympics without gifts…Also, I can’t say that athletes from the other countries are friendly with us. It is obvious that they would be happy if we didn’t come here. But, we in the Russian crew communicate very well” writes Goncharova!

Goncharova:
I am Brazilian. And of course I will support my countrymen and women. But Russia shall be welcome to Brazil in any context. I am sure not every Russian athlete is dirty with doping issues as people around the globe might think.
I wish you guys and girls luck here in the games and if you have time after them take visits to the Reedeming Christ and to the Sugar Loaf, our best in Rio. Museum of the Future and Museum of the Sea are a must as well. Enjoy the ‘Carioca’ way of living. Enjoy your stay here!

Spasibo!!!!! Udachi!!!!!
