France National Team needed to beat Brazil in the last round of Pool A to qualify for the quarterfinals but they failed to do it. Still, if Italy (previously secured top spod in the pool) had beat Canada, France would qualify regardless of the outcome of their match versus Brazil.
„Italians did not play. I know them, I play with them, but I am not surprised. It went as we expected. With the complicity of Italy, the Canadians advanced to the quarterfinals,” Ngapeth complained to “Le Parisien”.
Serious accusations by Ngapeth… How will his Italian teammates in Modena Volley welcome him back after this? And what will be a reaction of the fans in Serie A1?
To be honest, Italy really benefited from this situation since France are no longer able to compete for the medal – and despite everything, they were major favorites to take one.

Italy is in a perfect olympic shape ; how could they lose this match against Canada after defeating all the big teams in the pool? France defeated Canada 3:0 while Italy defeated France 3:0. It is quite difficult to imagine Italy didn’t imagine they could eliminate France or Brazil while giving the match to Canada…
And about Italian teammates of Ngapeth I am sure they won’t defend the contrary of what they did (which was probably much more the coach’s choice rather than the players one…)

@RIO02 so u think you can measure the outcome of the match by comparing who beat who in the past? That is pathatic. Wasnt in WC USA beat ITA, ITA beat POL and POL beat USA?

Ita have 3 MB, one of them (Piano) is out for good cus of very serious injury. The other one (Bira) got injury in the begining of tour and have to rest but since Piano is more serious now Bira have to play anyway.
So , They, who have no MB left, start line up by using bench player Antonove which is OH instead of MB. And that make them dont have any reserve OH left and if one of them to be injured……
Having said all of those, they start their line up today with Junatora, even Zaytsev play more than half.
They could have rest Junatory for good but instead he play full match, and yet cause another injury to himself for the wrist. If you watch the match you will know there s been an accident.
So bla bla bla bla, french fan keep saying this is not still enough.
I am afraid he is right on the spot. I thought exactly the same when I saw who from Italian team is on the court vs Canada. Italy figured out they can eliminate one potential medal opponent by losing vs Canada, either Brazil or France. Consider Zaytsev’s statement from the other day against Ngapeth when they beat French, and you will see they knew that France will be very likely sent home
France did the same against USA in WL 2015. C’mon. And italy is afraid of Brazil indo finals. Brazil did. And now, if Brazil goes to gold match, sorry for Italy. They make Brazil wake up more stronger then before. Everybody remember women’s brazilian force in London. Almost the same case.

Italy did not need to give their best, but they earned that right. N’gapeth neglects to recognize that the Canadians also beat the Americans. Three wins were required to advance from the group of death. The French HAD to beat Brazil Italy or the USA and failed. Yes Canada was given an easy match with Italy but they also upset the USA to earn the ticket to the quarter finals. Laurent chamberlain wrote an interesting article analyzing the performance of the French team through their victories in euro and world league. It suggests that they were over hyped as a team as those results were against questionable competition. Worth a read.

First I believe Canada beat the United States in 3 and the States beat France. Now with that said just give respect to the teams that beat you out Canada deserves to be there no doubt about it, being a sore non winner just makes you that a bad non winner
What a bunch of naive people. the fact that Ita playing with their main players through out the match is more than enough to give them respect. I was expect to be the whole bench players from the strart.
Mind you Juanatory get more injury from this match despite he dont have to play it. And French fan keep saying this is not enough.

unfortunately stupid italy let russia to have weaker rival in upcoming round… it takes one to know one…just canada instead of france lol….i will laugh so loud when they will lose against russia soon
If you that smart @Joker, you will know whatever team is pass through is only have to fight untill there is one left on the other side. So what if Italy lose to Canada and they lost to Russia? Was it better or worse than if French are getting though, met Russian and win Russian?

somehow he is right but look italy dont owe anything from france this is a game, italy can do anything they want and they use there cards to eliminate one of the strongest team. france have the chance to beat brazil but they didnt do it they let brazil bounce back
