Luxembourg, home to the Confederation of European Volleyball (CEV) and European Volleyball, has recently been abuzz with excitement as it hosted the much-anticipated Drawing of Lots for the upcoming CEV Champions League Volley season. Europe’s top-notch clubs held their collective breaths in anticipation of this crucial moment.
The session kicked off with the draw for the early rounds (1-3) of the competition, the victors of which will seize the remaining coveted spots in the fall-scheduled pool phase. With the withdrawal of VfB Friedrichshafen, the men’s early rounds gained even greater significance, allowing for three, instead of the previously planned two, qualifying spots into the pool phase.
In a notable shift this season, the early rounds will be formatted as single round-robin tournaments, diverging from the usual home and away system. This change has been enacted considering the packed international calendar.
The Drawing of Lots for the Pool Phase (Round 4) of the CEV Champions League Volley was als determinated. Teams were segmented into five groups of four, each vying either for a direct pass to the Quarterfinals or a slot in the Playoff.
The women’s stage of the competition is shaping up to be a thrilling spectacle.
On the men’s side, the composition of the pools promises a riveting contest this season.
