Germany’s performance in the Volleyball Nations League 2023 took a significant leap as the team jumped from 16th to 12th position in the standings after a resounding 3-0 victory (25-22, 25-18, 25-22) against Bulgaria in Anaheim, United States.
This win, Germany’s second in the tournament, saw them outpace Bulgaria, Canada, Cuba, and China in the standings, and now boasts a tally of two victories and seven points. Bulgaria, on the other hand, now finds itself at the bottom of the league with a single win and six points, inching dangerously close to the brink of relegation.
Moritz Reichert was the top scorer for the German side, exiting the court with an impressive 14 points, while teammate Linus Weber chipped in with an additional 12 points. On the Bulgarian end, Martin Atanasov, Asparuh Asparuhov, and Denis Karyagin led the scoring board with 11, nine, and nine points respectively.
