Montpellier beat Chaumont to win the first French Super Cup in their history.

The reigning French champions prevailed over the match hosts in four sets and after a breathtaking fourth set (30-28). Olivier Lecat’s guys needed five match points to down Chaumont, relying on a great Ezequiel Palacios (25 points, including 4 aces), who had just returned from the World Championship where he defended the colors of Argentina. His teammate, Théo Faure, Montpellier’s second-best scorer tonight, was named MVP of the game. The Czech, Patrik Indra, scored 13 points on the losing side.

All in all, Montpellier – Chaumont 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 30-28).
