The coaching staff of the Russian Men’s Volleyball side Dinamo Moscow hoped they could rely on Kévin Le Roux from the start of the season but the injury was stronger than the French player.

Le Roux, a 28-year-old middle blocker of the French National Team, came to Dinamo from and Italian powerhouse Azimut Modena this summer as a major boost. But, due to his injury, he was unable to make his debut in the Russian Superliga yet. So, Dinamo decided to release him to his home country to heal the injury and undergo rehabilitation.

„It has been more than three weeks since I got injured. At first, I thought it was a herniated disc, but in fact, I have a vertebra, the L4, which slipped and touched a nerve, resulting in inflammation of the entire lower back. It happened to me while I was making an attack in a match. I had to twist to attack a ball and I felt like a stab. Since it hadn’t changed, I asked my club to let me go back to France to try to heal it; at first, the coach (Yuri Marichev) did not want to, but he was dismissed last week because of bad results, and his replacement (Boris Kolchin) agreed that I return for a week,“ Le Roux explained the extent of his injury in an interview for the French Volleyball Federation (FFV) website.

“I went to Montpellier to consult specialists and follow care with the physiotherapist of the French team, Jean-Paul Andréa. They confirmed the diagnosis and I underwent an arthroscanner. Namely, they inserted two needles in my back, between vertebrae L3-L4 and L4-L5. Then, I took three-four days off to see the family in Nantes and, I returned to Moscow on Monday. The goal is that I can play the Russian Super Cup next weekend against Zenit Kazan,” the middle blocker added.
