Prosecco Doc Imoco Volley Conegliano achieved the sixth victory in as many games in the 2021/22 Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship but did it through another tie-breaker.
Prosecco Doc Imoco Volley Conegliano continued their endless series of successive wins. Actually, beating Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio in the sixth round of the 2021/22 Serie A1, ‘The Panthers’ recorded the victory no.71 in a row. But, after being pushed to the utter limits a week ago against Vero Volley Monza, Imoco played another match in five sets and it seems that their first defeat after almost two years is just around the corner. The Conegliano side could not count on Fahr, Sylla, and De Gennaro, while Busto were deprived of help from their main attacker Mingardi. For Imoco, Paola Egonu was the top scorer (30 points). Dutch Robin De Krujif made 71% attack (12/17, two errors), while Lara Caravello and American Kathryn Plummer had 70% reception each.
Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri got themselves the third straight victory. They beat Acqua & Sapone Roma Volley Club, with Belgian Kaja Grobelna scoring 17 points and Francesca Villani making 88% reception (17 digs, 53% perfect), and moved up to second place in the charts.
Led by American Khalia Lanier (20 points), German Marie Schölzel (four blocks), and Sara Loda (70% reception, 23 digs, four errors, 57% perfect), Volley Bergamo 1991 beat Bartoccini-Fortinfissi Perugia in five sets and, just like Chieri, reached the third win in a row.
