The Olympic gold medalist from Tokyo 2020, Barthélémy Chinenyeze, will be playing for the current Italian club champions, Cucine Lube Civitanova, in the next 2 seasons.
Lube announced the engagement with a 2-year contract of Chinenyeze, who is coming to the reigning SuperLega champions from a very positive season from an individual point of view in their league’s rivals Allianz Milano. The France National Team member was awarded as the Best Middle Blocker at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics following his squad’s victory in the event. Despite his young age, (24), Chinenyeze established himself as one of the key pieces of ‘Les Bleus’ since his debut 5 years ago.
Lube will be his 3rd club in the Italian Championship to which he came in 2019 as the 3-time consecutive Best Middle Blocker of the French league. Last season in Milano, he played 29 games, scoring 310 points, 77 blocks, and 17 aces. With his average of 2.90 blocks per set in the regular season, Chinenyeze was the 3rd-best block-pointer in the competition.
