Scandicci announced that they have reached an agreement with the Chinese setter Yao Di. She replaced Ofelia Malinov, the Italy National Team member and the Best Setter at the 2018 FIVB World Championship.

Yao Di landed in Europe for the first time in her career, leaving the formation of Tianjin, with whom she recently became champion of China, which was her seventh national title in the Super League. She took them all with Tianjin, as well as two Asian Club Championships, the only club whose jersey she has ever worn (since 2011). Individually, a 30-year-old setter received the award of Best Setter of the Chinese league in 2017.

At the international level, Yao Di was nominated as the Best Setter in the FIVB U20 World Championship in 2011, a recognition that she also obtained two years later in the event for the under-23 national teams. Yao Di’s debut with the senior national team of China came in 2013 and in the following years, she won the FIVB World Cup and an FIVB Grand Champions Cup.
