As Foppapedretti announced on their website, after 25 years of collaboration, the furniture company that sponsors the club, and by whom the club carries its name, will no longer be able to do so from the 2018/19 season.
The company “Foppapedretti”, which took over the club only one year upon its establishing by the name Volley Bergamo, in 1992, has increasingly difficult task by each year to secure funds for it to compete in the top division, or to compete at all.
Thus, in order to allow club management to find new sponsors, “Foppapedretti” announced withdrawal from the club a year ahead.
This means, in case they don’t find a company, or several companies, to financially support Volley Bergamo, there is a big chance for the club to shut down after winning CEV Champions League seven times, CEV Cup one time, national championship eight times, national Cup and national Supercup six times each.
Recall that Foppapedretti nearly withdrew from the next season’s Serie A1.
