
Mexico and Colombia are heading to the semifinals of the 18th Men’s Pan American Cup following intense victories in their quarterfinal matches.
Mexico triumphed over the United States 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 25-20, 25-23), earning a place in the semifinals where they will meet defending champions Canada. The U.S. will now compete in the classification round for positions 5-8, starting with a match against Puerto Rico. Oziel Aguirre was the standout performer for Mexico, leading the charge with 17 points, while Franky Hernández added 15.
Meanwhile, Colombia emerged victorious in a thrilling five-set battle against Chile, winning 3-2 (25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 23-25, 15-12). Colombia will now face Venezuela in the semifinals, while Chile will play for positions 5-8. Leandro Mejía led Colombia with 16 points, and Andrés Piza added 12. Chile’s Dusan Bonacic was the top scorer of the match with 22 points.
