PAC 2017 W: USA and title defenders Dominican Republic to meet in finals, both chasing fifth gold medal

The United States and Dominican Republic will meet for the gold medal of the 2017 Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup in Cañete, Peru.

The U.S. National Team secured their seventh participation in the finals of the Pan Am Cap as they swept hosts Peru 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 27-25) in the semifinals at „Coliseo Lolo Fernández“. Thus, the American ladies will have a chance to pick up their fifth trophy in the tournament.

The U.S. NT was led by opposite Elizabeth McMahon, who scored 16 points of which 10 in the first set. The main Peruvian star Ángela Leyva poured 16 as well. The winners made as much as 15 kill blocks.

As for the title defenders Dominican Republic, they reached a convincing win over Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-19) to try to grab the fifth gold in the Pan American Cup. Bethania de la Cruz and Jineiry Martínez each had 12 points in the winning team, while Daly Santana got 10 for the Puerto Ricans.
