The second seed JT Thunders won Game 2 of the 2018-19 V.League Division 1 semifinal (Final 3) against No.3 Toray Arrows to prevail the series 2-0. Thus, the Hiroshima based side advanced to the championship matchup for the first time since the 2014/15 season. There, the Thunders will face Final 6 winners, and also the top seed, Panasonic Panthers. Game 1 of the best-of-two finals will be held at the Takeda Teva Ocean Arena in Nagoya on April 7, while Game 2 is scheduled a week later at the Musashino-no-mori Sports Plaza in Chōfu.
The Thunders achieved victory in Game 2 of the semis against Toray far more comfortably than Game 1 which ended in five sets. The second encounter lasted four sets, partially 25-19, 25-22, 20-25, 28-26.
The Australian bomber Thomas Edgar poured in 35 points, including five kill blocks. Chinese Liu Libin, who became the first-ever China national team member to compete abroad, also made five kill blocks for the winners. Burmese Aung Thu top-scored for Toray with 25 points.
