UPCN San Juan Voley Club achieved a convincing victory against Gigantes del Sur in the final of the 2019 Argentinean Cup, officially called Copa RUS Argentina: 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-19). Thus, the Condors (Los Cóndores) reached the 20th title in their history. The Cuban outside hitter Miguel Ángel López from UPCN was named MVP of the competition and was the top scorer of the final with 18 points.
En route to the gold medal, UPCN didn’t suffer a single defeat (4-0 overall) and eliminated fiercest rivals Bolívar Voley in the semifinal. By winning the Argentinean Cup, UPCN have qualified for the next edition of the South American Club Championship and also to the 2020/21 national Super Cup.
This year’s national cup was marked with a withdrawal of one of the participants. Monteros Vóley Club didn’t travel to San Carlos de Bolívar, where one of the groups of the preliminary stage was held, for economic reasons.
