Athletes Unlimited, the sports association responsible for organizing the first edition of the professional women’s volleyball league in the United States after 18 years, is working to reach an agreement with the experienced middle blocker Lauren Gibbemeyer. The 31-year-old US National Team member with whom she won the FIVB Volleyball Nations League (2015 as FIVB World Grand Prix and 2018) and Pan American Cup twice each has been without a club after leaving Turkey’s Eczacıbaşı VitrA at the end of the last season.
Recall that 48 players in total will participate in the US league through an innovative format between February and April, in Nashville, Tennessee. Among these players, the biggest stars are Jordan Larson and Foluke Akinradewo. So far, the Puerto Rican Áurea Cruz is the only foreigner confirmed, but the name of the famous Brazilian opposite hitter Sheilla Castro appears among the possibilities.
