Suwon KEPCO Vixtorm, a team that probably made most changes in the composition of the team compared to the last season out of all Korean top division sides, reached the top of the national cup – the 2020 KOVO Cup. They defeated the Incheon Korean Air Jumbos in the final that was held at the Jecheon Gymnasium in Jecheon with a 3-2 (25-18, 19-25, 25-20, 23-25, 20-18).

They finished at the top of their respective pool with a 2-1 record and eliminated Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers in the semifinals. Thus, KEPCO, who finished the last V-League season at the bottom of the charts, unlike the Jumbos who were runners-up, won this competition for the third time in history (2016, 2017, 2020).

The American newcomer Kyle Russell, who was nearly replaced by another foreigner in the offseason after reporting to the club to have physical problems, was KEPCO’s most prolific player in the final with 27 points (4 aces). The opposite hitter was also voted MVP. The losing side Jumbos played the KOVO Cup without their import Andrés Villena, who’s summoned to the Spain National Team to prepare for the qualifying tournament for the European Championship. Im Dong-Hyeok top-scored for the team coached by Italian Roberto Santilli with 26 points.
