Coming to the competition as big contenders for the title, Serbia finished in a disappointing 9th place, while Japan closed at the 10th.

In their second participation under the name of Serbia, the European powerhouses returned back 5 position than the fourth they gained in 2011.

But, Uroš Kovačević thinks although they finished in 9th place, they are the best in the world:

“I must say that this is my last match in young generation volleyball after five years. I am happy to finish this tournament with a victory. Today we played very well from the start of the each set. We showed Japan that we are better than them. Team of Japan have a great atmosphere, great energy. It was really a pleasure to play against them. For sure we are one of the best teams here. This tournament was unlucky for us because of the only match we lost in seven victories. But I must say, Serbia as a national team is the best in the world, we have a very good young generation. We have independent championships in Europe, we are Olympic champions, we are the best in the world.

Japan close their 11th participation in the 10th position, 2 positions better than 2011.

Uroš Kovačević was the main offensive threat for Japan with 16 points followed by Mihajlo Stanković and Dražen Luburić both with 14 respectively. Takahiko Imamura led Japanese scorers with 9 points followed by Naoya Takano 8.
