16 clubs compete for African queen’s title

Sixteen clubs will be competing for the 24th edition of the Women's African Club Championship due to start today in Carthage, Tunisia, with defending champions Kenya Prisons and runner up GS Petroliers of Algeria coming as heavy favourites.

Each pool will play a round-robin format with the top two teams of each qualifying for the quarterfinal. The competition, which ends April 27, will continue in a knock-out format there after till the final. The third and fourth teams of each pool will play in the same format for the 9th to 16th places.     

Pool Composition

Pool A: Carthage Tunisia, Nkumba Uganda, Injs Cameron, Watersport Ethiopia

Pool B: Prisons, Elshams Egypt, Bafia Cameron, Bejaia Algeria

Pool C: GSP Algeria, Ndejje Uganda, Manga sport Gabon, US Carthage

Pool D: Pipeline, Chlef Algeria, APR Rwanda, FAP Cameroun
