Chinese Taipei opened the match on Monday with consecutive services aces to establish their stature against their opponents. India tried to stage a firm net defence, but their blocks proved ineffective against their rivals’ varied offensive plays. Chinese Taipei knew how to fully utilise all players on court as effective scorers.
Fierce service was still a threat to India’s reserves in the second set. Chinese Taipei’s Chen Tzuya once again proved her power and precision from the service area. She scored a total of six points off serves to reiterate Chinese Taipei’s domination of the match.
The Chinese Taipei girls suffered from errors in the third set but did not allow the Indian team to inch closer. Subtle yet precise drops rendered variation to the Chinese Taipei side’s powerful attacks.
Chen Tzuya churned out a remarkable performance 15 points, while enlisting support from hitters Kuo Chingyi and Lee Yu with 10 points and nine points respectively.
The Chinese Taipei squad will now have to devise a stronger game plan to sustain their momentum, as they face defending champions Japan in the 1500h match on Tuesday at the Shuangliu Sports Center.
