Measuring almost 2.10 m of height, Bartłomiej Kluth comes from Orneta. For ten years, he has trained badminton, reaching good results in this sport including the bronze medal for Poland at Junior World Championship. As he says, in his town badminton was the number one sport and there was no place for him to train volleyball.
Edward Pawlun, coach of the Young Lotus Trefl team, however, claims that it might be an advantage: “He is not “contaminated” volleyball player. His spine and knees are in great shape, he can make thousands of jumps. He is an athletic guy and well-coordinated with an excellent range. In the attack he catches the ball at a height of 3.64 m, while in the block – 3.43 m,” compliments the player coach Pawlun.
At the beginning of 2012, Kluth interrupted his studies and moved to France. There, under the supervision of Zbigniew Zieliński, a former multiple member of Polish national team and European vice-champion in 1983, he trained in an amateur club AL Caudry.
After the French adventure he came back to his country and found out about testing of Lotos Trefl team. He appeared in a training and with his physical conditions he caught the eye of trainers. In early August, he went to camp with the team to Węgierska Górka.
Since Monday, Kluth is training with the first team of “yellow-black”. Until Jakub Jarosz is staying in the Polish national team training camp, the club has only one opposite, Paweł Mikołajczak, so the former badminton player had the chance.
The player is not officially player of any Trefl team, but it seems, however, that he will strengthen the Young Lotos Trefl team, who last season became the champion of Poland.
